Progress Software Announces Expanded New Roles for Key Senior Executives

Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS) today announced the appointment of Karen Tegan Padir as chief technology officer and John Goodson as chief product officer.

As Chief Technology Officer, Padir, a Progress senior vice president and 20-year software industry veteran will be responsible for defining and delivering the company’s technology strategy, innovation and vision, reporting to president and Chief Executive Officer Phil Pead. As Chief Product Officer, Goodson, a Progress senior vice president and well-known data integration expert and author will lead all product development, product management and product marketing functions, and also report to Pead.

Padir joined Progress Software in September 2012 as senior vice president and business line executive for application development, the company’s largest product line. Under her leadership, the Progress® OpenEdge® development platform was revitalized and major new versions incorporating advanced mobile and business rules capabilities introduced. She also played a key role in the company’s recent acquisition of Rollbase Inc., whose technology is a key component of the newly announced Progress Pacific™ platform-as-a-service. Padir succeeds John Bates, who will be leaving the company as part of the recently announced divestiture of the Progress® Apama® solution.

Goodson joined Progress Software in 2003 and has previously served as the general manager of both the DataDirect and Enterprise Business Systems divisions within Progress. Under his leadership, Progress® DataDirect® has grown into a leading provider of connectivity technologies. In his role as senior vice president of products, he was instrumental in the development of the new Pacific platform and responsible for an increased focus on data connectivity technologies offered as-a-service through Progress DataDirect®.

Executive Quote:

Phil Pead, president and CEO, at Progress, said, “The IT industry is undergoing a major transformation and Progress is at the forefront of this cloud, social and mobile revolution with our new Pacific platform and its innovative application development technologies.
