Uranium stocks rallied Monday as shares of uranium supplier USEC Inc. unexpectedly soared as high as 161 percent. Analysts believe the rise was due to a combination of a short squeeze and recent victory for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s Liberal Democratic Party in Japan. Prime Minister Abe, whose party is considered to be pro-nuclear, is expected to restart the nuclear reactors that were shut down as a result of the Fukushima disaster in 2011.

Uranium Energy Corp. (NYSEMKT: UEC) shares traded in the range of $2.18 to $2.48 Monday before settling to close at $2.46, an increase of 12.33 percent. The stock appears to be facing some resistance at the $2.49 and $2.70 levels with some support at $2.30. Shares of Uranium Energy have fallen approximately 3.9 percent in 2013.

Ur-Energy Inc. (NYSEMKT: URG)(TSX: URE) shares traded in the range of $1.17 to $1.34 Monday before settling to close at $1.34, an increase of 14.53 percent. The stock appears to be facing some resistance at the $1.34 and $1.53 levels with some support at $1.20. Shares of Ur-Energy have gained approximately 58.4 percent in 2013.
