Fifth Third Bank Introduces Stand Up To Cancer® Credit Card To Drive Additional Funding for Cancer Research

FITB

Fifth Third Bank announces the launch of the Fifth Third Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) Credit Card. SU2C is a groundbreaking initiative that supports scientific collaboration to accelerate innovative cancer research and bring new therapies to patients quickly. Fifth Third Bank recently launched an SU2C Debit MasterCard in June 2013 and is the only card issuer to offer the SU2C payment cards.

Customers within Fifth Third’s 12-state footprint may now apply for the Fifth Third Stand Up To Cancer Credit Card by visiting any of the Bank’s more than 1,300 banking centers or website at www.53.com. A portion of every qualifying purchase will directly benefit SU2C, and Fifth Third will additionally donate $5 a year for each active SU2C Credit Card, beginning on the customer’s first anniversary of signing up for the card. Customers also may redeem their Real Life RewardsSM points to give a cash donation to SU2C. The Fifth Third SU2C Credit Card can be used everywhere MasterCard is accepted.

Today also marks the launch of Fifth Third Bank’s Take a Swipe at Cancer promotion. Between Nov. 12 and Dec. 31, Fifth Third Bank will make a $0.01 donation, up to $400,000, to SU2C for every qualifying purchase over $5 made using Fifth Third MasterCard cards, including the SU2C debit and credit cards. Fifth Third customers who plan to participate in the promotion may visit the Fifth Third Facebook page to share personal stories about who inspires them to “swipe” in support of the fight against cancer. Customers also may share personal stories on Twitter using the #swipe2fight hashtag.

“We are proud to help more consumers join in the fight against cancer by taking an everyday behavior like swiping your MasterCard and turning it into something quite meaningful,” said Julie Joseforsky, senior vice president and head of Bankcard for Fifth Third Bank. “We are introducing the Stand Up To Cancer Credit Card following our successful Stand Up To Cancer debit card launch earlier this year and continue to look for innovative ways, such as the Take a Swipe at Cancer promotion, to serve this important cause.”

“One in two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes. With the incredible support of our donors, we hope to change these odds,” said SU2C Co-Founder Rusty Robertson. “Through this collaboration, all of Fifth Third Bank’s customers have an opportunity to make a difference. We are profoundly grateful to everyone at Fifth Third for the Bank’s continued commitment to Stand Up To Cancer.”

“Cancer kills one American nearly every minute. Fifth Third Stand Up to Cancer credit and debit cards empower all of us to fight back by swiping our cards in grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants and everywhere else MasterCard is accepted. It’s a powerful proposition: help end cancer by using these cards to do the things we do every day,” said Craig Vosburg, Group Executive of U.S. Market Development for MasterCard.
