Launches Rapid Cloud Application Development Challenge at Cloud Expo Asia 2013
SINGAPORE, Nov, 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Progress( http://www.progress.com ) (NASDAQ: PRGS) today announced the launch of the Rapid Cloud Application Development Challenge( http://businessmaking.progress.com/forms/13Q4_APAC_CloudAsia_AppDevContest ) to enable technology innovators in Singapore to go to market faster and in a more seamless manner. The challenge is open to local software developers who are interested in building or enhancing an existing application using Progress Rollbase. The challenge is open for submissions from November 13th to December 31st and the individual or team with the winning app stands a chance to take home a MacBook Pro.
The aim of the Rapid Cloud Application Development Challenge is to recognize the best custom cloud app, which will be judged on innovation and creativity, user interface design and overall user experience, commercial appeal, and performance. The Challenge is open to individuals or teams consisting of up to five members to submit a brand new application or an enhancement of existing applications that are developed on Progress Rollbase.
This Challenge is organised as part of Progress Software's efforts to support the community around the Progress Pacific platform, launched in August this year, and follows its acquisition of Rollbase in June 2013. Speaking at the launch of the Challenge, Stephen McNulty, Managing Director of Asia Pacific and Japan at Progress, said, "In a rapidly changing business landscape, speed is essential to success. The Rapid Cloud Application Development Challenge encourages developers to build an application on Progress Rollbase, completely hassle-free. We want to show developers that building innovative solutions does not take years of coding – you can do it in days or weeks."
The judges for the competition will be a mix of technology industry veterans and representatives from Progress Software. Winners will be announced on January 23, 2014.
To participate, developers can sign up for a 90-day free trial of Progress Pacific( http://businessmaking.progress.com/forms/13Q4_APAC_Pacific_CloudExpoAsia ), and develop a new app or import an existing app using the Progress Rollbase. Participants are required to submit their application by December 31, 2013 and include their contact details, app details, and a five-minute YouTube demo of their app.
Progress Rollbase is a cloud platform that allows rapid creation of software as a service (SaaS) business applications using point-and-click, drag-and-drop tools in a standard Web browser with a minimal amount of code. Progress Rollbase can be deployed to any cloud or in-house infrastructure, and features a web marketplace that lets users browse, evaluate, and select froma growing number of on-demand business applications designed to run on the Progress Rollbase. The platform, included in Progress Pacific, also allows users to easily create ad manage any number of tenants across application and database servers.
