Accenture and SAP Expand Industry Focused Joint Solutions to Help Oil and Gas Companies Improve Upstream Operations

ACN, SAP

Accenture (NYSE: ACN) today announced plans with SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) to deliver joint new offerings, based on the SAP HANA platform, called “Upstream Production Operations,” to help oil and gas companies improve and standardize processes, replace legacy tools, provide a single view of production across the organization, minimize uncertainty and improve the management of production.

Extending the existing relationship between the two companies and expanding their portfolio of hydrocarbon management solutions, “Upstream Production Operations by Accenture and SAP” will consist of solutions, services and training for energy companies’ production operations.

As part of the program, Accenture and SAP will provide an end-to-end solution – from the well head to the invoice – which will include key processes such as production forecasting, field data capture, production accounting and deferment management. Using SAP’s leading software platform as the backbone, Accenture will provide consulting, systems integration and outsourcing services.

“Building on our existing success with SAP, these new upstream production operations solutions are designed to fill a significant void in today’s upstream market,” said Jean-Marc Ollagnier, group chief executive of Accenture’s Resources operating group. “Our goal is to help our clients focus on improving their operations from the initial phase of production to the point of sales by optimizing energy companies’ investment in upstream assets.”

Chakib Bouhdary, executive vice president, Industry Solutions, SAP, said: “Combining Accenture’s significant domain expertise in operations with SAP’s innovative IT solutions will create a variety of new upstream go-to-market offerings that don’t exist in the industry today. We believe this will change the game in helping our customers meet their production goals.”

‘Upstream Production Operations by Accenture and SAP’ will run on the SAP HANA platform, providing oil and gas companies with integrated views of high volumes of complex data in real-time. It is the next in a range of industry and functional solutions by Accenture and SAP running on the SAP HANA platform. Just recently, both companies have launched a marketing performance solution on SAP HANA for Chief Marketing Officers.
