VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 27, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The head of mobile keyboard technology maker WordLogic Corporation predicts the firm's latest innovation has the potential to be a game changer for consumers and marketers.
A recognized pioneer in predictive keyboard technologies, WordLogic (OTCQB:WLGC) is credited with inventions that have helped pave the way for mobile and tablet-based communications. Today, WordLogic's predictive keyboard software platforms, including its iKnowU keyboard – the most advanced keyboard available for the Android operating system – enable users to communicate readily by automatically completing words and sentences, and delivering relevant information without additional user input.
Company CEO Frank Evanshen says WordLogic's new Reach technology platform is a breakthrough for users and advertisers.
"We've built a personal search platform into the keyboard, so that everything you do is faster and easier without leaving your current application. That means no more cut and paste," explains Evanshen. "As you type the name of a person while writing an email or text, Reach retrieves the phone number, email address and other related information. If you want to copy it into your message, just swipe and click on the items. Reach eliminates the lengthy and painstaking process of exiting applications, copying and pasting."
As impressive as these user-friendly utilities are, Evanshen says Reach's true game-changing quality is its utility for marketers and advertisers. "Content and products can be exposed to users based on their most recent texts, making advertising non-intrusive, because the information Reach delivers is both relevant and helpful."
He says the platform is a goldmine for Internet coupon and directory information companies, "a number of which have already partnered with WordLogic," noting the company expects to generate revenue up to 10 per cent of the purchase price of deals that range from tens to hundreds of dollars.
Reach works by monitoring user text entries and detecting when additional information might be useful. This can include contact information, meeting times and places, restaurant reservations, stock quotes and translations. It can even locate restaurants or services. "Reach provides a new level of personal search services. It can find directory assistance information for a local plumber, or a coupon to save 50 per cent off your next spa visit, all without the user doing any additional typing," says Evanshen.
Mark Dostie, the firm's Chief Technology Officer, says, "The Reach framework can incorporate any number of co-branded 'mini-apps' capable of accessing and retrieving a user's favourite app's data, so it can be quickly added to texts and emails in just a few swipes and clicks."
With patents dating back to 1999, WordLogic technologies have been used by Fortune 500 companies as a basis of their own systems, while others have licensed WordLogic's patents directly. The company's iKnowU keyboard maintains a consistent 4.5 out of 5 rating from users on the Google Play store.
Among its features, the iKnowU keyboard can predict letters, words and even sentence fragments simultaneously. It can also learn new words and phrases from its users. Connected to cloud networks, the iKnowU keyboard keeps users' devices synced with one another while adding new words from the Internet. Beyond its ability to predict in languages including English, Korean, Spanish, German and French, iKnowU works with online dictionaries to access legal, insurance, medical and other enterprise terms.
While WordLogic's assets include a stable of valuable patents, Evanshen says Reach reaffirms the company's position at the forefront of predictive technologies in a market whose appetite for such advances is growing rapidly.
"Reach provides a new value proposition for WordLogic and its investors," says Evanshen. "In addition to a market-leading set of technologies and patents available to sell or license, WordLogic has a new revenue stream in advertising and services that is exponentially greater than previous opportunities."
