NTT
Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the data, cloud and
international communications business within NTT
(NYSE: NTT), today announced the U.S.-market launch of Enterprise
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, a virtual desktop service providing
enterprise users with cloud-based access to office desktop environments
from anyplace at any time for enhanced global productivity and security.
Supported by servers and other infrastructure newly built in the United
States, Enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure helps globally active
enterprises to protect information, standardize IT governance and
integrate desktop environments with standardized cloud infrastructure
rather than having to build desktop environments in each country. PC
environments in overseas locations can now be constructed and managed
from within the United States on an integrated basis.
Enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure is linked to Arcstar
Universal One, NTT Com’s global network service for enterprises, to
provide fast, free connection to cloud infrastructure. A convenient
customer portal simplifies the addition of new accounts and creation of
operating system images. Virtual desktops can be used as much and as
often as needed. For service costs, please see the attachment.
The service incorporates XenDesktop by Citrix Systems, so screen
transfers do not leave data in the user’s device, meaning that employees
can use PCs, tablets and other devices safely and as required, depending
on their location and nature of business. Internet access to the service
assures wide availability for seamless use of virtual devices regardless
of location.
Going forward, NTT Com plans to launch Enterprise Virtual Desktop
Infrastructure platforms in other markets, including Europe and ex-Japan
Asia, as well as enhance the customer portal with added functionality.
“Citrix is developing leading desktop-as-a-service (DaaS) provider
programs and new technologies that partners use to differentiate their
businesses,” said Mitch Parker, Vice President and General Manager,
Citrix Cloud Services, Citrix Systems Inc. “Incorporation of XenDesktop
in NTT Com’s Enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure will enable U.S.
companies to better satisfy their global computing needs. The
combination of industry-leading desktop virtualization technology with
U.S.-based cloud service platforms will ensure that customers worldwide
can use desktop virtual environments safely on a highly flexible and
expandable service platform.”
“Citrix Systems Japan welcomes NTT Com’s launch of Enterprise Virtual
Desktop Infrastructure in the U.S. market, following its Japan launch in
2012,” said Michael King, President & CEO, Citrix Systems Japan KK.
“With Citrix® XenDesktop® as one of its core components, Enterprise
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure enhances the productivity of global
employees and expands the choices for cloud-based desktop virtualization
services amid growing interest in DaaS.”
