Granite Construction Incorporated (NYSE:GVA) announced today that Kenny
Construction Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary, was selected to provide
project management services for the construction of approximately 200
miles of 345-kilovolt (kV) transmission line in the state of Texas. The
project was awarded by Electric Transmission Texas LLC (“ETT”), a joint
venture between subsidiaries of American Electric Power and Berkshire
Hathaway Energy Company, and is part of the ETT Rio Grande Valley
Transmission Improvement Plan.
Kenny will oversee all aspects of line construction and employ much of
its full suite of project management services, including right of way
clearing and access, material management, transmission line contractor
as well as testing and commissioning. This vital addition to the
nation’s electrical infrastructure includes 28-mile section, a 126-mile
section and a 48-mile section. Construction of the line is expected to
further improve transmission reliability in the Laredo and Rio Grande
Valley areas.
Work on the project by Kenny commenced in June 2014, and is expected to
be completed in mid-2016. The contract will be included in Granite’s
second quarter 2014 backlog. The contract value was not disclosed.
