August 20, 2014 - Nautilus Inc. (NYSE: NLS), a leader in innovative home
fitness equipment, today announced the availability of the award-winning
Bowflex MAX Trainer™ in Canada following its successful U.S. launch
earlier this year. Designed to take the popular elliptical experience to
a new level, the MAX Trainer combines the movement of a traditional
elliptical with a stair stepper to create a one-of-a-kind cardio workout.

“Our research shows that lack of time is one of the top reasons people
put off exercising. There was a need to develop a disruptive home
fitness machine that could deliver a more efficient cardio experience in
less time,” said Bruce Cazenave, CEO of Nautilus Inc. “The Bowflex MAX
Trainer is an exciting new addition to our Bowflex brand that is known
for innovations that maximize fitness benefits within the comfort and
convenience of home.”
The Bowflex MAX Trainer™ was designed to burn up to two-and-a-half times
the calories of other exercise equipment including treadmills, steppers
and ellipticals. The secret behind this new cardio machine lies in its
industrial design, enabling full body movement and engaging the upper
body 80 percent more than a traditional elliptical, while remaining
easier on the joints than running on treadmill. It features a 14-minute
interval workout that maximizes the benefits of afterburn and can
increase metabolism up to 48 hours after a workout is completed.
Inspired by a motorcycle’s lean and aggressive profile, its unique
design incorporates a calorie gauge that mimics a speedometer showing
calories burned per minute and an audio bell that rings to alert the
user to the start of each interval training period.
“We looked at a variety of inspirations when we created the Bowflex MAX
Trainer,” said Kevin Hendricks, Senior Industrial Designer at Nautilus
Inc. “We wanted it to look fast and aggressive and visually it had to
drive the consumer to push past their comfort zone. The design needed to
help the user achieve maximum results in a short amount of time. What we
came up with is a brand new product that captivates you and allows you
to focus on your workout without distraction.”
The Bowflex MAX Trainer™ also provides users the ability to track their
workouts with the free Bowflex MAX Trainer™ app, which wirelessly
transfers all workout data via Bluetooth®. It tracks every detail – from
time on the machine to calories burned – and automatically syncs workout
data with MyFitnessPal®. The app also syncs data automatically with
Bowflex Connect™, a free dashboard that helps you view your workout
results and understand how they contribute to achieving your overall
fitness goal.
The Bowflex MAX Trainer™ is now available for purchase online, starting
at $1099.
This revolutionary cardio machine has proven a winner with fitness
enthusiasts and is now earning design kudos for an innovative and
visionary approach to exercise equipment. The Bowflex MAX Trainer™ took
first place in the Outdoor and Exercise Equipment category in the 2013 International
Design Awards (IDA) competition.
