Progress
(NASDAQ: PRGS) today announced that Belgium-based TVH Group, worldwide
market leader in replacement parts and accessories for material
handling, industrial and agricultural equipment, is using Progress®
Pacific™ platform-as-a-service (PaaS) to modernize and streamline
its internal ERP and Warehouse Management System. The company will start
in 2015 with the implementation of Progress
Corticon® business rules management and Progress
Rollbase® rapid application development to complement their existing Progress
OpenEdge® platform.
TVH began as an industrial equipment distributor in 1969. Over the past
45 years, the company has grown through acquisition to become the
largest parts and accessories distributor and equipment rental company
in the world. A long-standing customer, TVH looked to Progress for help
moving its siloed development staff onto one platform to help deliver
increased reliability, performance and scalability of its
mission-critical systems in order to further improve customer experience.
The Progress Corticon Business Rules Management System (BRMS) – a
critical component of the Progress Pacific PaaS platform - allows TVH to
model instead of program decision rules, which drastically reduces the
development and implementation time of new pricing rules. As a result,
price calculations of millions of products worldwide can be displayed in
real time, optimizing the accuracy of orders. The high-performance
automated business decisions and increased agility of decision change
processes will reduce the time to market.
By using Progress Rollbase, TVH will transform and modernize its
existing ERP system to improve the ease of use and maintenance. The
result allows dealers and suppliers around the world to submit orders
through a single platform, which improves accuracy and flexibility.
Furthermore, Progress Rollbase will also be the foundation for new
cloud-based applications. The rapid application development platform
allows the company to use a 'point & click' graphical interface in a
standard web browser.
Executive Quotes:
Kalman Tiboldi, chief business innovation officer at TVH, said,
"Innovation is in our DNA and technology is the most critical
differentiator for us. We are constantly looking for ways to make our
business more flexible and scalable - assessing the changing business
landscape and asking ourselves how we can improve our business processes
to adapt. Progress was the clear choice for us not only because it is
cloud-based, but because it provides a rapid application development
environment along with a robust business rules engine which we need to
calculate prices quickly for our entire customer base.”
Mark Armstrong, vice president and managing director, EMEA, at Progress,
said, "TVH is a great example of how Progress is helping companies
modernize their technology to keep up with the pace of business. Using
tools like business rules and Progress Rollbase, TVH is able to scale
their system to meet the demands of increased data complexity.”
