NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and
international communications business within the NTT (NYSE: NTT) Group,
announced today that the customer portal of its Enterprise Cloud service
will offer immediate on-demand management of cloud-connected Internet
and VPN circuits, as well as cloud-based settings for server and network
segments in virtual servers, beginning October 8.
In addition to adding/subtracting server resources, the service will
enable changes in connected circuit bandwidth, the addition of network
segments, and changes in VPN circuit-routing information. There will be
no charge for these functions.
The operation of cloud ICT infrastructure requires the cloud and network
to be managed on a unified basis. In many cases, however, changes are
not reflected immediately and cannot be centralized. Until now, network
operations within ICT infrastructure have been relatively burdensome in
terms of workload and limited flexibility, unlike server resources. In
the near future, however, Enterprise Cloud will enable enterprises to
accelerate business expansion and reduce workload by directly managing
network settings, including VPN and Internet circuits, as well as
existing settings for items such as compute resources, storage and
network machines such as firewalls.
Newly Strengthened Enterprise Cloud
Processes are directly
manageable and changes are reflected immediately.

Newly Added Functions
1) Change VPN
circuits connected to cloud infrastructure
The customer
portal will enable users immediately to change VPN bandwidth and routing
information in NTT Com’s Arcstar Universal One service. Customers can
flexibly self-manage a wide range of menu items, from a best-effort 100
Mbps to a guaranteed 200 Mbps for Internet circuits. Network
configurations can be changed to meet temporary needs, such as backing
up data from a customer office to a remote office, system migration, or
increased system access during fiscal year-ends. Customers can choose
VPN circuit bandwidth from a best-effort 100 Mbps to a guaranteed 200
Mbps, charged flexibly by the minute for effective cost management.
(Please see Attachment 1 for service fee.)
2) Modify Internet circuits connected to cloud
infrastructure
The customer portal will allow users
immediately to establish or eliminate Internet circuits, as well as
change bandwidth and add global IP addresses. Bandwidth can be modified
within a wide range, from a best-effort 10 Mbps to a guaranteed 1 Gbps.
Customers will be able to change bandwidth flexibly, for example, during
peak access on an EC site or for sales campaign. (Please see Attachment
2 for service fee.)
3) Modify server segments
Enterprises
will be able to add/delete up to 24 server segments on demand, allowing
them to modify system structure in the cloud for short-term
optimization. Combining this function with VPN/Internet circuit
modifications, customers will be able to manage their network
environments and related systems directly and on-demand.
