WATERLOO, Ontario, Nov. 4, 2014 /CNW/ -- OpenText™ (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), the global leader in Enterprise Information Management (EIM), today announced that CARE Canada has implemented OpenText Content Suite. Using OpenText, the organization is able to enhance collaboration and teamwork among its worldwide users and increase productivity for the internal CARE teams.
A leading development and humanitarian organization, CARE Canada is fighting global poverty in more than 80 countries, supporting more than 900 aid projects that reach more that 83 million people. Its emergency relief operations in places such as the Philippines, South Sudan and Gaza, are both complex and time-sensitive. Since 1998, CARE has relied on OpenText's solutions for Enterprise Content Management. But as information storage and sharing has become invaluable to coordinate its global efforts, it was time for the organization to take a look at upgrading its system.
Following an assessment of Minerva, CARE's internal name for the system, the organization found the outdated system was not optimal for the needs of the users. The team decided to upgrade to Content Server 10 for the improved performance that would provide a simplified user interface and many other important functions for the organization's current needs.
Now based on Content Suite 10, John Oram, director, Information Communications Technology & Knowledge Management for CARE Canada, has seen significant progress in Minerva, "Content Server allows us to centralize our information management and share in ways that we just couldn't otherwise. Minerva now has the strengthened capabilities, including multi-language support, to allow us to easily collaborate with our partners and users across the globe."
In response to the improved performance and ease-of-use, adoption of Minerva has risen to more than 1,000 global professionals and is still growing. A recent user survey shows usage has grown by more than 20 percent and achieved a 93 percent satisfaction rating.
The system's faster response times and additional users have resulted in a boost in productivity, increased collaboration and lower operational costs. CARE's internal costs for supporting Content Suite end-users have also been reduced significantly, with time and related expenses cut in half.
"Users that were historically reluctant to use our ECM environment have now become strong advocates," Oram reports. "The solution largely sells itself with word of mouth among CARE team members. Since upgrading Content Suite, performance is nothing short of a 70 percent increase over previous levels. Among the praise for how fast and how flexible it is to use, we are hearing exclamations of 'Love it!' and 'So fast!'"
"During emergencies, CARE needs quick access to accurate, up-to-date information about what is happening on the ground," said Gillian Barth, CEO at CARE Canada. "Having the right information management tool allows us to share the latest developments of a crisis, as well as the findings from our assessment teams, with the entire CARE federation. This ensures that our response is calibrated, efficient, and makes an optimal use of available resources. OpenText allows everyone involved with CARE to stay on top of the information required to serve vulnerable populations to the very best of our ability."
OpenText Content Suite is designed to reduce risk and mitigate the cost of growing volumes of content in the enterprise. Content Suite is part of OpenText's EIM strategy, which enables organizations to discover and manage information to spur growth and innovation across their organization, decreasing time to competitive advantage. Consisting of five comprehensive and integrated product suites, OpenText's EIM strategy delivers a unified developer platform, engaging and consistent user experience and deep integration across suites to enable information flows across the extended enterprise.
