MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 7, 2014) - Demonstrating its commitment to China and the broader Asia-Pacific marketplace, Bombardier is pleased to return to Zhuhai for the 2014 edition of Airshow China. Representatives of Bombardier Business Aircraft and Bombardier Commercial Aircraft will be on site to meet with current and prospective customers, further strengthen strategic relationships with partners in the growing Chinese aviation industry and showcase the company's diversified portfolio of aircraft.
With China as a key growth market, Bombardier believes there is a rapidly expanding requirement for modern and efficient transportation infrastructure, and the company is well positioned to meet the nation's mobility needs. Dating back some 30 years, Bombardier's involvement in China's aviation industry has grown steadily to include a significant fleet of business and commercial aircraft, as well as an increased focus on manufacturing opportunities and customer services expansion.
During the airshow, Bombardier's static display will include the super-midsize Challenger 300 and ultra long-range Global 6000 business jets; as well as Nok Air's colorful extra capacity Q400 NextGen turboprop. The extra capacity Q400 NextGen aircraft, which received rave reviews on its recent entry into service with launch customer Nok Air, is the only commercial turboprop capable of comfortably accommodating 86 passengers.
Available now in single class, dual class, extra capacity and passenger-cargo combi configurations, the Q400 NextGen aircraft's versatility can match any business model, and is an ideal solution for China's regional low cost carriers.
Business Aircraft
In the 20-year period from 2014 to 2033, the Bombardier Business Aircraft Market Forecast predicts China to be the third largest business jet market after the US and Europe, and will generate around 2,225 business jet deliveries over the forecast period.
Currently there are 110 Bombardier business jets in service in China, representing one third of the country's business jet fleet.
Bombardier Business Aircraft offers the widest portfolio of business jets in the industry, spanning from light to large and ultra-long-range categories. Two new aircraft recently joined the leading Challenger aircraft family of business jets. The Challenger 350 and Challenger 650 aircraft have redefined the cabin experience with ground-breaking aesthetics and ergonomic advances to create the ultimate in-flight experience. The Challenger 350 business jet entered into service on June 27, 2014 and the recently launched Challenger 650 aircraft is scheduled to enter into service in 2015.
Bombardier always finds more ways and more places to put its customers first. With the grand opening of the Singapore Service Centre this past February, Bombardier operates a localized customer service network including a team of Field Service Representatives (FSR) and Customer Support Account Managers, four Authorized Service Facilities (ASF), two Regional Support Offices (RSOs) in Shanghai, Hong Kong and neighboring Singapore, as well as two established part depots in Beijing and Hong Kong.
As the number of Bombardier business aircraft operators in China grows, Bombardier continues to actively explore opportunities to increase its customer services presence in strategic locations across China.
Commercial Aircraft
In its 2014-2033 Market Forecast, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft predicts that Greater China's demand for new aircraft will be second only to North America's, with 17 per cent of world deliveries, or 2,280 aircraft over the 20-year period. This would include 1,440 aircraft in the 100- to 149-seat segment and 840 in the 20- to 99-seat aircraft segments.
About 35 CRJ and CRJ NextGen regional jets are currently in operation in Greater China, and Bombardier has recorded orders or commitments for 80 more commercial aircraft in the country, namely 50 commitments for the 100 per cent-new CSeries airliner and 30 for the superior Q400 NextGen turboprop.
Bombardier's complete range of optimized commercial aircraft solutions constitute an ideal complement to China's domestic products and deliver the reliability, low operating costs, operational flexibility and best-in-class environmental scorecard required to meet the most demanding fleet expansion needs of Chinese operators.
Airshow China 2014 will run from Tuesday, November 11 to Thursday, November 13 for trade visitors, and will be open to the public from Friday, November 14 to Sunday, November 16. The Bombardier booth, located in Hall 1 at D3-7, will be closed for the duration of the public days.
Bombardier aircraft on static display
Challenger 300 aircraft: Bombardier has manufactured approximately 470 Challenger 300 business jets since its entry-into-service in January 2004, making it the worldwide leader in the super-midsize segment. Designed to provide a highly productive working environment for eight passengers on a non-stop 3,065 nautical miles (5,676 km) mission and NBAA IFR fuel reserves, the Challenger 300 business jet satisfies customer needs for an efficient, economical and technologically advanced aircraft.
Global 6000 aircraft: The Global 6000 business jet offers more cabin volume and more floor space than its closest competitor. No other business jet in the ultra-long range segment matches the high-speed range capability delivered by this aircraft. Offering the ultimate in cabin comfort, this impressive jet can link Beijing with Paris non-stop with eight passengers and three-to-four crew*. It can travel 6,000 nautical miles (11,112 km) at M 0.85 with a passenger load of up to eight.
Q400 NextGen aircraft: Optimized for short-haul operations, the Q400 NextGen aircraft is a large, fast, quiet and fuel-efficient turboprop. It provides the perfect balance of passenger comfort and operating economics with a reduced environmental footprint. The Q400 NextGen aircraft is the fastest new-technology turboprop, providing both jet speed and turboprop fuel efficiency. The aircraft's economics and operational flexibility allow airlines to profitably deploy it in a variety of ways to serve typical short-haul turboprop routes, as well as medium-haul jet markets. Q400 NextGen aircraft are available with an optional dual-class interior for enhanced passenger comfort; an optional extra-capacity configuration with up to 86 seats for high-density markets; and a cargo-passenger combi configuration.
