TSX Venture Exchange Celebrates its 15th Anniversary

T.X

TORONTO, Nov. 28, 2014  /CNW/ - TMX Group today announced that TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV) is celebrating its 15th anniversary.

"There is no other public venture market like TSX Venture Exchange anywhere in the world," said John McCoach, President, TSX Venture Exchange.  "Today marks an important milestone for us; we look forward to providing early-stage companies with the access to capital they need to fuel their business strategies for many years to come."

In 1999, Canadian Venture Exchange (CDNX) was formed when the Vancouver and Alberta Stock Exchanges merged. The Canadian Dealing Network, Winnipeg Stock Exchange and equities portion of the Montreal Exchange later merged with CDNX. In 2001, Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) acquired CDNX and renamed it TSX Venture Exchange in 2002.

Today, TSXV is home to almost 2,000 issuers with total market capitalization of $28.9 billion. Since November 1999, TSXV issuers have raised $81.5 billion in equity capital, with $4.3 billion of that total year-to-date October 2014. Since January 2000, more than 600 companies have graduated from TSXV to TSX where they have raised $87 billion in equity capital.

As one of the world's leading public venture markets, TSXV provides access to growth capital for small and early stage companies while offering investors a well-regulated market.  It has become a global leader for mining and energy finance, as well as technology and innovation financings.
