The New York Times and Women in the World Announce Collaboration

NYT

The New York Times Company and Women in the World LLC announced today that they will join forces and enter into a multi-year agreement to collaborate on the production of the Women in the World Summit series.

The Times Company will create and launch a new digital platform for Women in the World, tied to NYTimes.com. The Times will also invest in Women in the World and take on the role of selling sponsorships and advertising for the Women in the World events and digital. Tina Brown, its founder and CEO, will continue to oversee the programming of the event series, which is executive-produced by Kyle Gibson.

Launched in 2010, the summits bring together change-making women worldwide and leaders such as Meryl Streep, Hillary Clinton, Condoleezza Rice, Madeleine Albright, Leymah Gbowee, Diane von Furstenberg, Angelina Jolie and Christine Lagarde. Every year, a powerful roster of inspirational activists and political innovators tell newsmaking stories, and offer solutions to building a better life for women and girls in a three-day event at Lincoln Center in New York. In 2014, Women in the World grew beyond New York to include events in Washington, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Antonio. Next year, it launches in Dubai, London and Delhi.

Mark Thompson, president and chief executive officer, The New York Times Company, said, “In a few short years, Tina has made Women in the World one of the most influential and successful live event series focused on women and girls around the world. Tina is renowned for her outstanding editorial vision, and we’re delighted with the prospect of collaborating with her and her team on this exciting and important project.”

Tina Brown said, “We are delighted that Women in the World will now be associated with a world-class journalistic enterprise. Our new digital and live-media collaboration with The Times will amplify our mission to bring to life the struggles and triumphs of courageous women everywhere."

Women in the World 2015 will take place April 22–24 at the David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center, New York City, and will be produced in association with The New York Times.
