Methode Electronics - Data Solutions Group Named Finalist for Tech Titans Corporate Innovation Award

MEI

North Texas Data Center Provider Recognized for Superior Innovation With Introduction of Lithium-Ion UPS

RICHARDSON, TX--(Marketwired - Aug 11, 2015) - Methode Electronics - Data Solutions Group, a division of Methode Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: MEI), a global developer of custom engineered and application specific products and solutions, has been named one of four finalists in the Corporate Innovation category of the 15th annual Tech Titans Awards presented by the Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC).

MTBC's Tech Titans Awards recognize outstanding technology companies and individuals in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex that have made significant contributions during the past year, both locally and to the technology industry overall.

Methode has been recognized in the Corporate Innovation category for its development of a lithium-ion uninterruptible power supply (UPS), the AC6000. Methode launched its AC6000 in 2014, and it is the only lithium-ion, high-density UPS on the market at its power level. The product passed stringent UL-certification testing in April 2015.

"Methode is focused on bringing new and future technology into the data center to address long-existing problems," said Tim Hazzard, president of Methode Electronics - Data Solutions Group. "Methode's new AC6000 lithium-ion UPS is designed to last for the life of the product, an improvement from the cycle-life and power density issues associated with traditional lead acid batteries."

AC6000's fast re-charge time, high cycle life and low capacity degradation all contribute to active power management and a patent-pending feature Methode calls "peak shave." Rather than under-allocating or throttling a rack of servers during a heavy traffic period, excess power draw can be accommodated by the energy stored in the UPS battery. This can reduce the data center's energy use at the rack level by eliminating peak consumption at a higher billing rate.

Judging criteria for the Corporate Innovation category is based on a number of key factors, including outstanding innovation and unique accomplishments as a result of recent or potential breakthrough technologies.

"Methode's products and solutions are revolutionizing the data center industry and business model, especially right here in North Texas," Hazzard said. "It's an honor for Methode to be named an award finalist by an outstanding organization like MTBC."

Winners from each Tech Titans category will be announced during the Tech Titans Award Gala at the Hotel InterContinental on Friday, Aug. 21, in Dallas. More information about the event is available at www.techtitans.org.
