NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and
international communications business within NTT (NYSE:NTT), announced
today that it will begin offering web application firewalls (WAF) used
in both NTT Com’s Enterprise Cloud service and the private-cloud
infrastructure of enterprises or service infrastructure of cloud
providers.
This new function as an Enterprise Cloud’s optional base, known as
Integrated Security Appliance: Web Security (WAF), beginning September
30 in Japan and from December overseas.
The function will also be
offered with NTT Com’s WideAngle managed-security services for the cloud
environments of individual enterprises and cloud providers. Launches
will begin in the first quarter of 2016 in Japan and selected overseas
countries, with further expansions in Asia, North America and Europe
planned.
The new function will enable enterprises to use WAF, in addition to
basic security functions such as Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) and
URL filtering, to deploy speedy, affordable security measures for
websites operated on cloud infrastructure.
NTT Com launched a one-stop unified threat management (UTM) service as
an Enterprise Cloud’s optional base in Japan this past January. The
service, which combines IPS software for virtual environments, URL
filtering, anti-virus, spam mail prevention for web and email and
managed security for enterprise cloud infrastructure and cloud
providers’ service infrastructure, will now be expanded in France,
Germany, Spain and the U.K from September 30, and additional countries
thereafter.

Advantages
• Globally unified specifications for on-demand measures that strengthen
web server security (see Attachment 1: http://www.ntt.com/aboutus_e/news/data/20150929_2b.html)
Enterprises
will realize control of direct, unified management of settings and
changes, such as turning WAF on/off, adding/deleting certificates and
routing by themselves via globally unified portal websites.
• Free tuning report before using WAF
To fine-tune settings prior
to introducing a WAF, tuning reports are offered for no charge based on
trial operation to test the WAF defense functions and determine the most
suitable detection settings in advance.
• High-quality managed security
High-security measures, including
automatic analysis and reporting, will be offered via NTT Com’s own
Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) engine, which
incorporates the knowhow of expert security analysts and leverages NTT
Com’s vast experience with managed security services. The measures will
also be offered as a WideAngle MSS option for enterprises that prefer to
entrust settings and management to Global Risk Operations Center of NTT
Com.
Background
The new services will be NTT Com’s latest collaborations with Fortinet,
Inc. and UBIqube, Inc. Fortinet is a U.S.-based security appliance
developer with the largest global share of this market for 10
