Kellogg's and Butler Team up with No Kid Hungry to fight Childhood Hunger

BATTLE CREEK, Mich., March 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- To help ensure all kids start their day with breakfast, Kellogg's® and NBA Star, Jimmy Butler will hold a basketball competition to raise awareness and funding to help those struggling with childhood hunger.  On Wednesday, March 9, Butler and high school students from four local Chicago high schools will encourage families to get involved to ensure more kids have the opportunity to reach their full potential by turning buckets into breakfast.

In addition to Butler, Kellogg's is teaming up with No Kid Hungry®, a national organization that connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. As part of this year's program, Kellogg's will donate 1 percent of sales for every specially marked box of Kellogg's cereal sold in 20161. Families can also donate directly to Kelloggs.com/give to help expand school breakfast programs across the US.

By bringing attention to an issue he wants to help change, Butler will kick-off National School Breakfast week by hosting a dynamic breakfast event at Chicago Lakeshore Athletic Club on Wednesday, March 9. Butler will meet with students and emphasize the importance of starting the day with a nutritious meal. After breakfast, students will hit the court for a basketball competition, hosted by Butler, culminating with the winning team facing off with Butler and Tony the Tiger. A $5,000 donation will be made to the winning team's school and $10,000 will be donated to No Kid Hungry by Butler and Kellogg's.

"Breakfast isn't something kids should have to worry about each day," said Butler. "I'm proud to be partnering with Kellogg's for the second year in a row to raise awareness about such an important cause and hope this small act can help many get the food they need every day."

Students from the Chicago-land area were selected based on academic performance, and/or leadership within their school and community. The schools participating in the competition will receive a donation to benefit their breakfast programs.
