JetBlue Named Top 10 Place to Work in Forbes' 'America's Best Employers of 2016' List

JBLU

-- JetBlue Named No. 1 Company to Work for In Transportation and Logistics --

JetBlue (NASDAQ:JBLU) today announced it has earned a top spot among Forbes’ “America’s Best Employers of 2016.” The airline landed at No. 8 of 500 companies nationally and was named the best company to work for (No. 1) in the category of transportation & logistics.

The annual Forbes ranking honors employers based on an independent survey asking how likely employees would be to recommend their employer—and other employers in their respective industries—to someone else.

This marks JetBlue’s second consecutive year at the top of the list, which was first published in 2015. JetBlue ranked No. 19 last year.

JetBlue has long been recognized for its award-winning customer service. For 11 consecutive years, it has been awarded “Highest in Customer Satisfaction among Low-Cost Carriers in North America” by J.D. Power and Associates.

JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes says the airline’s culture and crewmembers are behind the success. “Life in Blue,” a LinkedIn presentation highlighting its unique mission, culture and values, demonstrates why JetBlue consistently performs well in workplace and customer service rankings. “At JetBlue, we have the best crewmembers in the industry caring for one another, keeping safety first, having some fun and sharing our passion for hospitality and aviation,” Hayes said. “Our people are the heart of the special culture that we cherish. Our customers feel that—and it’s what they love about JetBlue.”

In 2015, JetBlue received more than 140,000 job applications and hired just 5 percent. The airline says that its popularity as a workplace comes from its commitment to maintaining a values-driven culture and keeping a close eye on engagement, with plenty of opportunities for crewmembers to be part of the company’s mission to inspire.

“Our crewmembers go the extra mile at work and in the communities we serve to make the difference for each other and for our customers,” Hayes said. “More than 35 million people fly JetBlue annually, so that’s a big opportunity to have an impact and our crewmembers embrace that with pride.”

All who join JetBlue are immersed in the airline’s culture from day one. New crewmembers hear from JetBlue leaders about the business and the importance of the airline’s culture during a two-day program in Orlando. During orientation and training, they stay together at The Lodge, a 196-room accommodation designed to reinforce JetBlue’s values, inspire collaboration and promote teambuilding.

The employers on the Forbes list were chosen based on an independent survey by Statista.com of 30,000 American employees working for large or midsize U.S. companies and institutions. They were asked anonymously through several online panels if they'd recommend their employer, or any other employers in their industry, to a potential employee. The mix of respondents (gender, age, region, educational level, and ethnicity) in the sample is representative of the overall U.S. workforce. Where appropriate, subsidiaries of larger entities were combined for evaluation. The survey was conducted on companies in all industry sectors employing more than 1,000 workers in the U.S. The Forbes’ “America’s Best Employers of 2016,” can be found at http://www.forbes.com/bestemployers
