Mitek Hires Stephen Ritter as Chief Technology Officer

SAN DIEGO, March 23, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mitek (NASDAQ:MITK) (www.miteksystems.com), a global leader in mobile capture and identity verification software solutions, has added Stephen Ritter as Chief Technology Officer to its executive management team. In this role, Ritter is responsible for driving the technological development of Mitek’s award-winning mobile capture and identity verification solutions, as well as overseeing Mitek Labs, the company’s computer vision and scientific team.

Prior to joining Mitek, Ritter was SVP Engineering and Research for Emotient, which was acquired by Apple. In this role, Ritter leveraged his expertise to deliver a groundbreaking emotion detection service based on facial expressions.  Emotient’s service leveraged deep learning techniques to solve computer vision problems.

Ritter has held senior leadership roles in product development, architectural implementation and engineering operations.  He served as Vice President of Engineering at Websense and Sr. Director of Engineering at McAfee. “As global companies look for ways to engage with customers in the mobile channel, Mitek is perfectly positioned to create fast, easy and secure processes that will enable the mobile revolution,” said Ritter. “I am excited to lead the Mitek Labs and engineering teams, and help create the future of mobile commerce.”

Stephen Ritter holds a BS in Cognitive Science from the University of California, San Diego. He has co-authored eight patents.
