Progress Appoints Faris Sweis as Chief Transformation Officer
15-year technology veteran to play pivotal role in propelling the company’s digital transformation vision
and strategy
Progress (NASDAQ: PRGS) today announced the appointment of Faris Sweis to the newly-established role of Chief
Transformation Officer. In this new role, Sweis will work closely with the Progress product organization to craft and deliver on
the strategic technological direction for the entire company, with particular focus on Progress® DigitalFactory™, the new
cloud-based platform that provides a holistic, extensible solution for businesses to create omni-channel digital experiences. He
will also lead the company’s internal digital transformation effort, ensuring its systems and processes are in a state of
continuous improvement so Progress can best serve its customers and employees.
“Sweis’ role as Chief Transformation Officer is a pivotal one that is both visionary and technical in nature,” said Phil Pead,
CEO, Progress. “Faris combines strong technical capabilities together with entrepreneurial skills that make him uniquely qualified
for this leadership position. Given his previous experiences as Vice President of Engineering at Progress and Chief Technical
Officer at Telerik, I am confident in Faris’ ability to help lead our digital transformation both internally and externally.”
Previously, Sweis served as Chief Technical Officer for Telerik, acquired by Progress in December 2014, and was subsequently
appointed Vice President of Engineering for Progress.
Sweis joined Telerik in 2010, when it acquired ArtOfTest, which he co-founded and served as CTO. Sweis has more than 15 years of
experience in software development, having also served as a software architect and consultant for companies such as Microsoft and
Dell. He received his Bachelor of Science in computer engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Sweis will
report directly to CEO Phil Pead.
“Progress is one of the major catalysts in the global business shift towards digital transformation and I couldn’t be more
thrilled to be a part of it,” said Sweis. “One of my key roles is to ensure our customers can deliver the most compelling digital
business experiences possible so they gain significant competitive edge and heighten customer satisfaction across the board. With
today’s digital transformation and DigitalFactory announcements, we’ve taken our first bold steps towards making it happen.”
