CHICAGO, ILLINOIS--(Marketwired - May 26, 2016) - DIRTT's (TSX:DRT) U.S. headquarters is getting
refreshed for its upcoming annual June show, DIRTT Connext, building on the company's successful introduction of virtual
reality for the built environment and residential aesthetics into commercial and institutional interiors. DIRTT is already
hosting tours during the build-out, to show tenants and owners its compelling construction method.
DIRTT Connext runs June 13 - 15, 2016 at the same time as Chicago's annual commercial design show,
NeoCon®, one of North America's largest conferences on commercial interiors for interior designs and
architects from around the world.
DIRTT integrated its ICE® 3D visual and specification software with virtual reality, making it the first
company to use VR in this capacity as a business tool for construction. ICE® provides full integration
between all phases of design, manufacturing and construction. It has object-oriented intelligence to price, engineer and build
interiors while putting the control firmly in the owner's hands through an interactive 3D videogame-like experience.
While inside an ICE VR environment, users can walk from room to room within their planned design and make changes in real
time. These changes are instantly reflected in engineering plans and pricing and are ready for manufacturing. Visitors to DIRTT
Connext 2016 will experience the latest innovations in this gaming device turned business tool.
Also highlighted at DIRTT Connext is DIRTT's move to bring a residential look and feel into any space. This is prescient for
the mass-custom prefab industry, where a challenge design professionals and facilities executives now face is creating work
environments that attract and retain millennials while keeping older generations engaged and performing.
Last year marked the moment a new generation finally passed the baby boomers as the largest living generation, according to
the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The millennials, people born between 1980 and 2000, now make up 34% of the workforce. By
2020 that will likely grow to 50%.
A recent survey conducted by FMI, a leading
management consultant for the construction industry, indicates millennials possess a stronger work ethic than previous
generations. Almost 70% of participants are willing to work beyond what is required to help the business succeed. More than 50%
preferred challenging work assignments. Both are almost 10% higher compared to the non-millennial responses.
DIRTT provides several tools to help organizations create spaces to attract this workforce. Since both location and comfort
play a role, DIRTT's non-invasive and quick-connect construction means existing, older buildings in desirable downtown locations
can support the aesthetics and technology required to run a 21st century company. With the residential attributes
DIRTT offers, designers can create comfortable spaces where culture and engagement can flourish without endangering the budget or
schedule.
The speed, certainty and quality of DIRTT are the main draw for Fortune 500 firms, hospitals, clinics, schools and small and
medium-sized businesses around the world. These owners and tenants also have the post-move-in bonus of being able to manipulate
their spaces to continue to adapt to the needs of their strategies, people and technology.
DIRTT Connext is June 13 - 15th, 2016 at the company's Green Learning Center on the 10th floor
of 325 N. Wells Street, Chicago.
