At 10:30 am, the Dow fell 0.14 percent to 18,500.25, the broader Standard & Poor's 500 index moved down 0.13 percent to 2,183.38 and the NASDAQ composite index declined 0.29 percent to 5,268.38.

The industries that are still afloat in the market today are:

  • Nonmetallic Mineral Mining: This industry gained 2.5 percent by 10:30 am. The top stock within the industry was Yanzhou Coal Mining Co Ltd (ADR) (NYSE: YZC), which gained 5.8 percent. Yanzhou Coal shares have climbed 27.23 percent over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has increased 11.01 percent in the same period.
  • Drug Stores: This industry rose 0.9 percent by 10:30 am ET. The top performer in this industry was Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE: RAD), which gained 6.2 percent. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ: WBA) said that it is exploring potential divestiture remedies to address certain issues raised during FTC discussions related to deal with Rite Aid.
  • Oil & Gas Pipelines: The industry gained 0.7 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Spectra Energy Corp. (NYSE: SE), which gained 4.1 percent. CIBC upgraded Spectra Energy from Sector Performer to Sector Outperformer.
  • Regional Airlines: This industry moved up 0.6 percent by 10:30 am. The top performer in this industry was Copa Holdings, S.A. (NYSE: CPA), which rose 6.3 percent. Morgan Stanley upgraded Copa Holdings from Equal-weight to Overweight and raised the price target from $56.00 to $94.00.
