SAN DIEGO, Nov. 09, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading
National Security Solutions provider, announced today that its Micro Systems, Inc. business unit, part of the Kratos Unmanned
Systems Division (KUSD), participated in the recently completed USAF Black Dart exercise at Eglin AFB, Florida.
As part of the exercise Kratos Micro Systems provided 113 small unmanned aerial system (sUAS) sorties, flown as
swarms of sUAS vehicles, in 23 launch events. Kratos/Micro Systems achieved these results within +/- 1
minute of the scheduled launch times.
The formerly classified Black Dart exercise enables participants from the U.S. Government, warfighters, and
private industry to test technologies and develop operations procedures to detect, identify, track, and defeat or disable unmanned
aerial systems. Test scenarios included both known and unknown routs and patterns, enabling operators to test specific
counter-UAS capabilities, yet provide realistic training. Presentations were made both over land and over water. The
exercise was controlled by the Joint Integrated Air and Missile Defense Organization (JIAMDO).
Kevin Ferguson, Sr. VP of Kratos Micro Systems, said, “Micro Systems is proud to support the Government with new
technologies to simulate this emerging threat and support their efforts to develop counter-UAS capabilities to keep our homeland
and warriors safe.”
