Twilio-Amazon Partnership Expands With New Voice Messaging Service

AMZN, TWLO

Twilio Inc (NYSE: TWLO) and Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) appear to have teamed up once again to improve client-based technology — this time to offer voice messaging.

Twilio, a cloud communications company, and Amazon provide applications to facilitate business communications with clients. The newest collaboration — confirmed by a source familiar with the matter — follows a natural progression in the Twilio-Amazon relationship.

In July, the companies announced a partnership to provide SMS delivery through the Amazon Simple Notification Service. The collaboration is intended to improve management and scaling of global communications, and the venture allows Amazon developers to engage with clients through secure bulk messaging.

The relationship has also manifested in Twilio's use of Amazon as its platform host and Amazon's 2015 investment in Twilio.

Representatives from these companies declined to comment on the particulars of the voice messaging venture.

After Benzinga first reported the news, Twilio's stock saw a 1.7 percent jump. Shares traded recently at $31.49, up 5.4 percent on the day.
