VCA Sponsors Clear the Shelters

Presented by NBC – on Saturday, August 19th, 2017

For the third consecutive year, VCA Animal Hospitals has teamed up with NBC for a one-of-a-kind pet adoption initiative – Clear the Shelters – on Saturday, August 19th. As a featured veterinary hospital sponsor, VCA’s veterinary healthcare teams will work with more than 700 shelters across the country. On this day, shelters will adopt out homeless pets into their forever homes. VCA is committed to supporting community animal welfare partners so they can save and enhance the lives of countless disadvantaged dogs, cats and other pets.

“We are proud to partner with NBC4 again this year, and to help raise awareness about the benefits of adopting from a local shelter,” said Art Antin, Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of VCA. “Working collaboratively, VCA and the shelters can make a meaningful, and often lifesaving, difference in the lives of so many pets. We're looking forward to working together to promote the health and happiness of pets throughout the country.”

On this day of action, participating animal shelters will offer reduced adoption fees and open their doors to find new homes for homeless pets. VCA Animal Hospitals’ teams will be on-site at community shelters, and all pets adopted during the event will receive a limited health guarantee and a gift bag filled with pet essentials. Pet owners visiting the event will also be offered a certificate for a Free First Exam, so they can experience the exceptional care offered at VCA Animal Hospitals.

For updates, stories and a map of participating shelters, visit www.cleartheshelters.com. The stations’ new social media campaign will engage the broader community throughout the campaign period by inviting them to post photos of their pets on all social media platforms and share why they love them using #LoveMyPet and #ClearTheShelters.
