TORONTO, Nov. 22, 2018 /CNW/ - Sun Life Financial Inc. (TSX: SLF) (NYSE: SLF) is pleased to congratulate Selena Ng, Director and Human Resources Business Partner, on being named one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women by The Women's Executive Network (WXN). Her win in the Future Leader category recognizes Selena's leadership, strong vision and extraordinary accomplishments.

Sun Life Financial Inc. (CNW Group/Sun Life Financial Inc.)

Upon graduating from Western Ivey School of Business, Selena joined Sun Life in 2012 as part of the company's Business Leaders Rotational Leadership Development Program (RLDP), which gives select new grads three roles in three years to fast-track leadership development. After excelling through the program, Selena saw an opportunity to implement enhancements that led to a significant improvement in Employee engagement and retention.

"Selena is a very talented leader who has quickly become known for her strategic vision and problem-solving abilities," said Helena Pagano, Executive Vice-President, Chief Human Resources and Communications Officer, Sun Life Financial. "She is a great role model for her team members, colleagues and business partners and we expect she will be a 'woman to watch' for some time to come."

Selena also volunteers her time to a number of worthy causes. She is a Sun Life United Way Ambassador, a GenNext United Way Cabinet member and co-creator of the Sun Life GenNext chapter. She actively encourages individuals and businesses to get involved in philanthropic activities and is a mentor and advisor for the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council.

Launched in 2003, the Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award recognizes exceptional women leaders who contribute to advancing the societal and professional landscape for future generations. Since its inception, the WXN has celebrated over 1,000 women and their many accomplishments.

Selena joins an impressive group of Sun Life leaders also recognized as Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women: Kathy Cunningham, Senior Vice-President, Finance (2017), Melissa Kennedy, Executive Vice-President, Chief Legal Officer & Public Affairs (2016) and Patricia (Trish) Callon, Senior Vice-President and General Counsel (2013).
