PATENT OFFICE APPROVES FOUR NEW PATENTS FOR DIGITAL ALLY

DGLY

Digital Ally’s Patented “Marking” Feature For Law Enforcement Video Will Issue This Week

Lenexa, KS, April 08, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Digital Ally, Inc. (NASDAQ: DGLY) which develops, manufactures and markets advanced video surveillance products for law enforcement, homeland security and commercial applications is pleased to announce its latest innovations for law enforcement video. Four new patents protecting various technology for law enforcement video will be issuing in the near future. One of these patents, U.S. Patent No. 10,257,396, (“the ‘396 Patent”) will issue next week. The pioneering technology of the ‘396 Patent provides “marking” functionality to law enforcement officers who need to mark a video to allow for easy identification of an important event in the recording. For example, an officer engaged in a high-speed chase of a suspect will be able to “mark” (or “flag”) the video at the point where the suspect throws something out of the car window during the chase. The “mark” will then help to quickly identify the location of the event for use in prosecution, or for using the GPS location of the event to locate exactly where the event took place. The ‘396 Patent comes from a strong family of patents that includes three other issued patents protecting various implementations of the “marking” functionality, including Patent No. 9,712,730. As evidenced by TASER’s former actions, the ‘396 Patent is a particularly important patent in this portfolio. TASER previously sought to cancel claims 1-24 of the ‘730 Patent through a Post-Grant Proceeding at the Patent Office. Similar to TASER’s other challenges at the Patent Office, this request also was denied by the Patent Office because “the information presented in the Petition does not demonstrate that it is more likely than not at least one of the challenged claims is unpatentable.”

Digital Ally also has three other patents in different technology areas that will issue in the next few weeks, though the Patent Office has not provided exact dates for issuance. These patents further cement Digital Ally’s position as a leading innovator for law enforcement.

“We have the best engineers in the industry,” said Digital Ally’s CEO, Stanton Ross. “Out of our humble beginnings in Lenexa, Kansas, our engineers have repeatedly shown that we can out-innovate the biggest competitors in the industry,” concluded Ross.
