“We are pleased to welcome Susan to The Hartford and our Investor Relations team. Her significant experience as both an analyst and investor relations professional and long-standing focus on property-casualty insurance will contribute to the continued excellence of The Hartford’s Investor Relations function,” Purtill said.

Spivak Bernstein joins The Hartford with nearly 30 years of insurance-industry expertise, in both investor relations and the sell-side-analyst role. Most recently, Spivak Bernstein held investor-relations roles with Argo Group International Holdings and Alterra Capital Holdings (formerly Max Capital). Prior to transitioning to investor relations 10 years ago, Spivak Bernstein spent 20 years on the sell-side with senior roles at Wachovia Securities leading a team that covered 25 non-life insurers, at ABN Amro, and at Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette. As an analyst, Spivak Bernstein was one of the first on the sell-side to specialize in research coverage of the Bermuda market and specialty insurers. Spivak Bernstein has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.

The Hartford’s Investor Relations team has been recognized as best-in-class among its peers for six consecutive years by Institutional Investor magazine. During that time, Purtill was named the Best Investor Relations Professional for the insurance sector and the Investor Relations team was named a top three Best Investor Relations Program. The ranking is based on top performance in financial disclosure, access to senior management, Investor Relations responsiveness, Investor Relations knowledge and other factors.
