Telemedicine is a Major Life Saver in the Fight Against COVID-19

V.DOC

Houston, Texas--(Newsfile Corp. - April 1, 2020) - Telemedicine is seeing unprecedented demand.

All as hospitals scramble to shift care online in response to a growing pandemic that has now affected nearly 838,000 people around the world. In addition, President Trump has strongly touted telehealth in the fight and just waived certain federal rules to make it easier for more hospitals to provide remote care using video chat for example.

Even the World Health Organization mentioned telemedicine is an essential service that's "strengthening the Health Systems response to COVID-19."

In addition, according to Mobi Health News, "Telehealth can directly influence flattening the curve of demand on health systems worldwide, slowing transmission and spreading incidence over a longer time period. Almost all telehealth providers have already faced a tsunami of demand, which may be better described as a global real-time piloting and go live."

Even the FCC just announced new measures to help the U.S. during the pandemic. Chairman Ajit Pai just shared plans for a $200 million COVID-19 telehealth program that would provide immediate support to healthcare providers with the broadband connectivity and devices need to provide the service.

With the coronavirus still making its rounds, coupled with "stay at home" orders in many states, telemedicine services will be under considerably high demand.

One of the Top Companies Helping is CloudMD Software & Services Inc.

CloudMD Software & Services Inc.(CSE: DOC) (OTC: DOCRF) has been offering its telemedicine solutions to North American health professionals to help tackle the coronavirus epidemic.

In Canada, the Ministry of Health is working on allocating more resources for telehealth to meet the rising demand. An emergency telemedicine code was announced to allow Ontario patients to be billed through the provincial medical payment plan, Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). The Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), which provides medical-legal protection to physicians, just announced they will cover any Canadian physician seeing any Canadian patient to help combat this current crisis.

For Ontario, the company also expanded its direct to consumer telemedicine app.

The app, which is free to download and use, allows people to book same-day appointments with a licensed physician in their own province. A roster of Ontario physicians has been onboarded to address Ontarians' health concerns via secure, real-time videoconferencing on the app. In addition, the company just increased its doctor onboarding efforts for CloudMD, the Company's direct-to-consumer telemedicine app, to handle the expected increased demand amidst the growing coronavirus spread.

"As demand for our services is expected to rise amidst the current Coronavirus outbreak, we are increasing our physician recruitment to manage the increased demand," said Dr. Essam Hamza, CEO of CloudMD. "It's better to triage patients remotely, sending only complex cases to over-stretched hospitals, allowing for a more efficient use of healthcare resources and ultimately higher quality of care for the patient population."
