Alain Mercier named chair of CUTA board of directors

QUÉBEC CITY, May 20, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - On May 11, the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) appointed Alain Mercier, CEO of Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC), as chair of the CUTA board of directors.

His extensive expertise, internationally recognized leadership, and over 35 years of transportation industry experience make him well placed to play an active role in CUTA's work at a time when public transit operators are facing major challenges. "It's an honor and a privilege to represent the industry, especially in the current situation," said Mercier. "As cities across Canada work to develop a vision of integrated mobility and major infrastructure projects, keeping our industry going is priority number one for all our members."

As CUTA chair, Mercier will represent Canadian transit interests to the federal government and continue serving his term on the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) board of directors.

Alain Mercier has been a CUTA member since 1998. A member of the board of directors since 2008, he has put his passion for transportation and mobility to work to develop a global contact network and acquire considerable expertise. Mercier has been CEO of RTC since 2012.
