Anna Green has been appointed as an independent director of Valeura Energy Inc. (TSX:VLE), the upstream oil and gas company announced Tuesday.
Green is a lawyer who has more than 25 years of experience focused on the Asia Pacific region, primarily within the banking and technology sectors, according to Valeura Energy’s news release.
She currently serves as chief enterprise services officer for Toll Group, a leading global transportation and logistics provider. Before joining the Toll Group in 2023, Green worked for Amazon, where she developed marketing, acquisition and growth strategies and was named Asia IT Woman of the Year at the Women in IT Awards. Before that she served as the chief risk officer and CEO for ANZ bank in Laos and in the Philippines.
“With her extensive background in driving strategy and overseeing risk management within high-growth businesses, I am confident she will provide a source of valuable independent advice,” Tim Marchant, Valeura Energy’s chairman of the board, said in a statement welcoming Green. “I look forward to working together with Anna and the rest of our board as we continue pursuing our strategy to drive value growth at Valeura, led by our high quality Thailand asset portfolio.”
Valeura described Green as “a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion and is well-known for having partnered with the UN, regulatory and government bodies, as well as customers and business councils to build mechanisms that drive meaningful change.”
Last month, Valeura completed an infill drilling campaign at its Nong Yao oil field offshore in the Gulf of Thailand and said the results “exceeded expectations.”
Valeura Energy Inc. is a Canada-based upstream oil and gas company engaged in the production, development, and exploration of petroleum and natural gas in the Gulf of Thailand and Thrace Basin of Turkey. It is also pursuing inorganic growth in Southeast Asia.
Valeura Energy was up C$0.01 to C$2.84 at 9:38 am Tuesday, but was down 32.6 per cent from its 2023 high of C$4.23 in November.
