Bombardier (TSX:BBD) unveiled plans for a significant enhancement to its London Biggin Hill Service Centre, with the addition of a new paint facility.

This facility is set to open in the second half of 2026, will be located next to the existing service centre building, helping to ensure that Bombardier’s location at London Biggin Hill Airport continues to provide a comprehensive service and support option for its customers.

The planned paint facility will span approximately 4,700 square metres and is designed to offer Bombardier’s customers an option for their aircraft paint needs. This development points to Bombardier’s commitment to enhancing its service and support capabilities, further solidifying its position as a leader in the industry.

“The addition of the new paint facility at the London Biggin Hill Service Centre is the latest example of how we continue to expand our service offerings for our customers in order to keep their aircraft in the air – and looking good as well,” Paul Sislian, executive vice president, aftermarket service and strategy said in a news release.

Inaugurated in 2017 and significantly expanded in 2022 to nearly 23,000 square metres, the London Biggin Hill Service Centre exemplifies Bombardier’s dedication to making its OEM expertise more accessible to customers worldwide. The new paint facility will complement the existing service centre, which is fully equipped to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, modifications, and avionics installations for Bombardier Global, Challenger, and Learjet aircraft.

The new paint facility will employ more than 50 skilled paint technicians, providing high-quality services to meet the growing demands of Bombardier’s customers. This addition builds on Bombardier’s ongoing commitment to customer service and support in the region.

In 2024, Bombardier and F/LIST announced the opening of a contemporary 65 square metre material lounge at the London Biggin Hill service facility. This lounge offers customers access to the largest and most comprehensive portfolio of interior materials available at any of Bombardier’s international service centres.

Additionally, Bombardier has made strides in sustainability with the installation of over 3,000 solar panels on the roof of the service centre. The company also introduced a new line maintenance station at the nearby Farnborough Airport, providing light scheduled and unscheduled maintenance as well as aircraft support on the ground.

Bombardier designs, builds, modifies and maintains a line of jets for people, businesses, governments and militaries around the world. The company’s customers operate a fleet of about 5,000 aircraft supported by 10 service facilities across six countries.

Bombardier stock (TSX:BBD.A) last traded at C$82.01 and though it has descended 15.65 per cent since the year began, it is soaring 54.74 per cent higher than this time last year.
