An affiliate of global producer Gold Fields (NYSE:GFI) will invest C$50 million into junior gold explorer Founders Metals (TSXV:FDR), acquiring 12,048,193 shares priced at C$4.15.
Gold Fields produces more than 2.1 million ounces per year across mines in Canada, Australia, South Africa, Ghana, Chile and Peru, The company holds 44.3 million ounces in proved and probable reserves, 30.4 million ounces in measured and indicated resources and 11.6 million ounces in inferred resources.
The non-brokered private placement grants the producer exposure to Founders’ flagship Antino project in Suriname, encompassing a 20,000-hectare land package that boasts more than 500,000 ounces of historical production and multiple years’ worth of high-grade drilling results in one of the world’s richest gold belts.
Subject to minimum thresholds, the deal also includes rights to investment top-ups and financing participation, technical committee representation and to appoint one nominee to the Founders Metals’ board of directors.
According to Monday’s news release, Founders will allocate the proceeds to land consolidation, regional exploration, as well as working capital and general corporate purposes.
The financing is expected to close by November 10, 2025.
