Ambrosus, a renowned name in blockchain-internet of things (IoT) solutions for the food and pharmaceutical industries has signed off on a partnership with the Swiss Coffee Alliance, a trade group that empowers coffee producers with scientific and technological expertise.

The partnership marries Ambrosus’ proprietary sensor-to-Blockchain technology and the SCA’s robust network of farmers, roasters, product developers, manufacturers and retailers. By working together, the two companies plan to “unearth new operating efficiencies” according to a news release, that has the potential to transform the global coffee market, which is valued at $81 billion, up from $30 billion in 1991. Despite this surge in price, smaller farmers have seen profits dwindle from 40% to under 10% in that same time.

Together, they aim to create a more profitable and equitable ecosystem for all parties in the production line by correcting this distribution of profits.
