Japanese giant set to take stake in lithium junior?

Shares of Canada Lithium Corp. (TSX: V.CLQ, Stock Forum) climbed more than 21% to 25 cents Wednesday, and while the company released no news, a couple of Stockhouse posters provided the Bullboard with information from recent news articles which said that Japanese company Mitsui & Co. has won the sales rights to lithium produced by a Canada Lithium Corp. mine.

Late Tuesday night on the Bullboard, yixter posted an excerpt from a news article which said that, according to a report by Nikkei English news, “Tokyo-based Mitsui has gained sales rights to lithium produced from a mine owned by Canada Lithium Corp.”

“Mitsui may take a stake in Canada Lithium to ensure its supply of the metal,” the report added.

Also, greendaze cited a Canadian Press article Wednesday which said: “Mitsui will import 2,000 tons of lithium per year from Canada Lithium Corp. (TSXV:CLQ) in 2013, the company said. The quantity of Mitsui's import is equal to around 80 per cent of Japan's annual demand for lithium. Mitsui said it will sell lithium in China, Japan and South Korea.”
