Uragold Bay Resources (TSX: V.UBR, Forum) saw some love as markets around the world sported a black eye. The company was most likely the subject of trader’s interest because of its partnership with Pyrogenesis Canada (TSX: V.PYR, Forum) to develop the PUREVAP™ QUARTZ VAPORIZATION REACTOR, which is expected to reduce quartz to high-purity silicon and/or polycrystalline silicon in one step, significantly reducing the cost of silicone and polysilicon production.

Although the tech has yet to proven out, the potential to revolutionize the solar panel industry by making it a competitive form of renewable energy has investors salivating and operating under the fear of missing a potential multi-bagger. Shares were up 40.00% to $0.07 per share.

POET Technologies (TSX: V.PTK, Forum) took one on the chin today as investors became frustrated with the lack of news since November. The company plans to disrupt the computing industry with a monolithic opto-electronics process platform that is expected to radically improve energy efficiency, component cost and size of smart optical components.

There are no working prototypes as yet and the company has had a hard history of not hitting targets and the latest estimate by management that it will have a working prototype in fiscal 2016 has lost its veracity with some investors. If the tech works, it really will be a game changer; the question is whether the investment community has the fortitude to hang in long enough to find out. Shares were down 12.87% to $0.88 per share.
