On Wednesday, Cortus Metals Inc. (TSX-V: CRTS, Forum) delivered the results of its 380 line-km high-resolution ground magnetics survey that covered the 2,590-hectare Red Rock project area.

A structural corridor trending more than 10 km northwest under shallow alluvial cover was delineated by the ground magnetics survey and was interpreted as an along-strike extension of the structural trends hosting the Pinion and Dark Star deposits, which host reserves of 883,000 oz Au and 364,000 oz Au respectively and measured and indicated resources of 921,000 oz Au and 544,000 oz Au respectively.

Located within the prolific Carlin Trend of northeastern Nevada, a large northwest-trending break in the ground magnetics survey indicates a previously unmapped structural corridor beneath shallow alluvial cover. Soil geochemistry will be used in conjunction with the recently completed ground magnetics to develop robust drill targets.

CRTS recently reported that a 35.3 km2 ground magnetic survey had been completed on its Cobre Project in Nevada and identified an 8 km2 section where numerous linear magnetic anomalies lie beneath underexplored shallow alluvial cover.

Indicating a concentration of dikes and sills flanked by extensive volcanic units, these anomalies enhance the geological interpretation at Cobre. There is potential for the along-strike extension of Long Canyon-style, Carlin-type gold mineralization beneath alluvial cover is only a recent development, due to regional exploration being historically focused on the surrounding surface rock exposures. Cortus now has identified subsurface gold targets along strike from Nevada Gold’s (TSX-V: NVX) Long Canyon Mine.

The Company is planning follow-up investigations, including a gravity survey and potential soil sampling program, to further delineate and test these newly developed concepts for drill targeting.
