Organized by National Development and Reform Commission ("NDRC") and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ("MIIT"), the System is compiled by China National Institute of Standardization ("CNIS") and Yingli Green Energy as well as other leading PV companies with the support of the World Wide Fund for Nature ("WWF"). As the first Chinese and first PV manufacturer to join the WWF Climate Savers Program, the Company expects to establish a benchmark for clean production in the Chinese PV industry through creating the System.
The establishment and implementation of the System is beneficial to objectively evaluating the clean production status of PV manufacturers and promote cleaner production and high-efficient consumption of energy through technical transformation and product upgrades. In addition, PV manufacturers can effectively reduce pollution and emissions in the process of production, strengthen waste reclamation and lower production costs due to the System, which can help Chinese solar PV manufacturers increase their competitiveness in the international market.
This event is highly appraised by representatives from NDRC and MIIT, "The establishment of the System will set up a new criteria on clean production in the Chinese PV industry and will further implement the Several Supporting Measurements for the Development of PV Industry announced by the State Council from the environmental protection aspect. It is likely to become one of the necessary requirements for domestic PV project bids and also will provide important reference views and supporting data during mergers and acquisitions in the PV industry. Supported by WWF with their sterling reputation and environmental protection experience, the System will be more convincing and boost recognition of Chinese PV products in the international market.
"Extensive applications of renewable energy is the major trend in global energy development. Renewable energy will account for approximately 9.5% of the world's total energy consumption. As one of the world's leading renewable energy companies, Yingli Green Energy has always been committed to promoting clean production in the PV industry and widespread use of renewable energy," said Peter Beaudoin, head of WWF's China office.
"As the first Chinese company and the first PV manufacturer to join the WWF Climate Savers Program, Yingli Green Energy is committed to providing affordable green energy for all. While providing clean energy for society, we are leading the trend of clean production in the Chinese PV industry through technology progress and reduction of carbon emissions. Establishing the System is not only to fulfill our commitment to the WWF Climate Savers Program but also to promote clean production and the concept of energy saving and emission reduction in the Chinese PV industry," said Dr. Dengyuan Song, Chief Technology Officer of Yingli Green Energy.
