SapientNitro, part of Sapient®
(NASDAQ:SAPE) announced today that its SVP and European managing
director Nigel Vaz has been named ‘Individual of the Year’ at the DADIs,
the Drum Awards for the Digital Industries, which recognize excellence
in the UK digital industry. Vaz succeeds 2012 winner, WPP chief
executive Sir Martin Sorrell, in holding the DADIs' highest individual
award.
The judges singled out Vaz for his championing of the benefits of agency
independence, at a time when independence has given SapientNitro the
benefit of agility and innovation in rapidly changing market conditions,
stating also: “Under his leadership, in the past year the agency has won
18 accounts and projects this year including Barclays, Kao and Moët
Hennessy Europe helping towards fee income growth of just over £24m.”
The DADI Awards are judged by industry peers – creatives, strategists
and clients with extensive experience in the digital industry. DADI
‘Individual of the Year’ was decided in a two-part process, a key
element being an online industry vote through The Drum magazine.
Vaz earned the honour after being voted
number one in the Drum’s Digerati poll ranking the UK's top 100 digital
professionals. Vaz was shortlisted alongside luminaires including
AKQA’s founder Ajaz Ahmed, Twitter’s UK MD Bruce Daisley, luxury online
boutique Net-A-Porter’s founder Natalie Massenet, and James Hart
Director of online fashion retailer ASOS.
“I’m immensely proud of this recognition and what it says about
SapientNitro,” said Vaz. “This honor is really a reflection of the great
work done by our people across the world every day to make our clients
successful in this rapidly changing and complex environment driven by
the increasingly connected, always-on consumer.”
