Medical Services of America Selects Allscripts Homecare

MDRX

Allscripts Homecare software selected by national homecare agency to reduce costs and improve clinical outcomes

CHICAGO, Oct. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Medical Services of America (MSA), a leading home health care agency headquartered in Lexington, S.C, has chosen Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) Homecare™ to deliver a reliable and easy-to-use home care software solution with tools to assist in reducing costs, reducing hospital readmissions and improving outcomes allowing MSA to deliver the highest quality care for patients.

MSA has 70 home care services locations in nine states and has served the home health care needs of patients since 1985. MSA chose Allscripts based on many factors, including Allscripts Homecare's high level of support.

"Allscripts Homecare can help us greatly reduce the costs associated with documentation, by reducing paper forms and files," said Christy Jeffcoat, Executive Director of MSA. "More critically, Allscripts Homecare provides tools that can help us to improve outcomes by assisting us in delivering critical patient data to nurses and clinical managers at the point-of-care, to help us allocate our resources and to ensure responsive and efficient treatment throughout episodes of care."

Allscripts Homecare's document management system, AllDocs, can help MSA to greatly reduce paperwork. As well, the Allscripts Homecare Physicians Portal module includes tools to allow agencies to sign and send orders and referral copies electronically, getting them into the hands of the nurses in the field more efficiently.

Homecare's predictive modeling feature also played an important part in MSA's selection of Allscripts. The predictive modeling feature analyzes patient data to help nurses and clinical managers identify patients who may be at-risk for re-hospitalization and treatment needs. This information can help nurses and clinical managers develop care management action plans.

"We are very pleased that MSA has been able to recognize and use the power of the Allscripts Homecare solution," said Martha Thorne, General Manager, Performance & Care Logistics at Allscripts. "Our clients understand that Allscripts Homecare is an intuitive and integrated home care solution. It is a population health solution that delivers critical data to nurses and clinicians at the point-of-care, which can be used by clinicians for smoother transitions and more effective treatment."
