Millicom (NASDAQ:MICC)(STO:MIC) today announced that its proposed merger
with UNE in Colombia has been given conditional approval by the
country’s regulator for Industry and Commerce, the SIC.
The SIC’s approval includes conditions on use of spectrum, the terms of
which the company is reviewing.
The proposed merger is also being considered by two other regulatory
bodies concerned with television (the ANTV) and Finance (SIF) and
expects their decisions shortly to enable the transaction to take effect
in Q2.
