GRAND RAPIDS, MI--(Marketwired - June 13, 2014) - Agility Health (TSX VENTURE: AHI), a leading provider of physical rehabilitation and software services to benefit patients, healthcare providers and employers, today announced the addition of Anne Marie Anderson as In House Counsel.
Anderson's responsibilities will include supporting business and legal affairs for the Agility Health entities, as well as drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts and services agreements. Reporting directly to Corporate Counsel, Anderson will focus on healthcare compliance and regulatory issues while assisting with general corporate matters.
"Anne Marie brings nearly 15 years of strategic legal counsel experience as a healthcare and compliance attorney in both external and in-house settings," said Steven N. Davidson, Agility Health CEO. "Her skills managing complex regulatory and compliance matters, particularly those involving Medicare and Medicaid, will be valuable assets to our team."
Prior to joining Agility Health, Anderson was Senior Counsel at Meijer where she supported store operations and pharmacy teams, as well as financing, merchandising and distribution leaders. She worked with compliance officers to develop policies resulting in strengthened performance and reduced risk. Designated a Meijer legal subject matter expert, Anderson counseled prominent decision-makers in identifying and addressing legal matters in areas including pharmacy, Medicare and Medicaid registration, billing and compliance, and HIPAA.
Previously, Anderson was Director Health Care Regulatory Counsel at Brooks Eckerd Pharmacies, a retail pharmacy chain later purchased by RiteAid, and an Associate with Wayne, Richard & Hurwitz, LLP in Boston. She holds a J.D. from Boston College Law School and a bachelor's degree in government from Dartmouth College, and is a member in good standing of the bars in Michigan and Massachusetts.
Anderson joins a team of highly qualified specialists in regulatory and compliance at Agility Health, all of whom are dedicated to keeping their knowledge current and relevant. Outpatient Compliance Officer Tiffany Warden-Lewis recently completed a six-month study and testing process to achieve her Certified Professional Compliance Officer title through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).
"The health care environment is changing and everything is much more regulated," said Warden-Lewis. "It's important more now than ever that we maintain a solid compliance process from the minute the patient walks through the door to the minute we receive payment for our services."
