SUGAR LAND, TX--(Marketwired - Jun 25, 2014) - Written by John Egan for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- As part of a strategic plan to modernize its generation fleet, Duke Energy Incorporated (NYSE:DUK) (Charlotte, North Carolina) will close its last coal-fired units in South Carolina and replace them with 750 megawatts of natural gas combined-cycle (NGCC) generation at its William States Lee Steam Station in Anderson County, South Carolina. Construction is expected to kick off in mid-2015, and the new generation is expected to be online by late 2017.
