Premium Exploration Inc. (TSX: V.PEM, Stock Forum) has announced the sudden passing of its Chief Executive Officer Wilf Struck.

According to a report in a Montana newspaper, the Billings Gazette, the 51-year-old geological engineer died on Saturday when his motorcycle was hit by a suspected drunken driver. He was travelling near Calgary at the time.

The newspaper report said Struck was traveling south on his motorcycle when he was hit by speeding southbound 2001 Honda Prelude. He died at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, Anthony Richard Barrett, 26, of Calgary, was arrested at the scene and faces charges of impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving and drug possession, the report said.

Meanwhile, Premium said its President Del Steiner will assume the role of CEO.

In a press release, Steiner described Struck as a great friend and colleague, adding that the news of his death is “personally overwhelming.’’

Stockhouse Media columnist Thom Calandra said he too is “blown away’’ by the sad news.

"Wilf was always Wilf all the time ...beautiful outlook on life,’’ said Calandra, adding that Struck "will be remembered for his wide and full frontal smile, and a metric ton of belief in Friday Petsite and his other prospects."
