Yesterday Sikoman Iron SIC shot up 200% before settling to gains of 120%.  The Stockhouse SIC board lit up with speculators, trolls and the rest.  Only one poster nailed it - an area play is developing in Central Newfoundland, where Altius Minerals ($1 billion market cap) has been successful in identifying several key gold discoveries.

Amazingly nobody in the Bullboards mentioned Stratton Resources (SI-v) picking up 119,000 acres in Central Newfoundland.  Who is SI and why should this be significant for the area?

SI is a Shawn Wallace company.  Wallace founded Asanko Gold (AKG, $1 Billion market cap) and  Auryn Resources (AUN, $200 million marke cap).

Stratton raised $14 million at 0.35/share, and has been trading in the 60c range giving it a market cap of $33 million well before any project was acquired (this is how valuable the market thinks Wallace is).

Here's a tidbit from SI's acquisition news, "The project area comprises three claim groups situated along a 100-kilometre trend extending northeast from Marathon Gold's Valentine Lake gold project and a fourth claim block situated along the structural corridor know as the Gander trend that is characterized by numerous high-grade gold occurrences."

In otherwords, the area SIC is in is starting to get crowded... like stateside said, the staking rush nobody is talking about yet.

Are we looking at the next White Gold district style play?

Place your bets.... it's going to be a fun winter.
