Locks have been around for centuries, made initially out of wood and later out of metal. Because of this, locksmithing is considered to be one of the oldest professions. But with today’s technological advancements, we now have smart locks and some keyless security. Does this mean that locksmiths will soon be obsolete? This is not actually the case.

More than just spare keys

People have the misconception that all locksmiths do is make spare keys and pick on locks. Actually, a locksmith can do so much more than that. In fact, they are considered to be skilled metal workers. In most countries, you need to complete an apprenticeship to be considered a locksmith and formal education are required although this varies from one country to another. You can get a simple training certificate on it or a full diploma from an engineering college that offers a special course on locksmithing.
