Julian Fantino Interview https://www.mediaallure.com/blog/aleafia-medical-cannabis-on-toronto-stock-exchange/
Media Allure: In your presentation for the TSX your whole team spoke about being patient-focused and clinical research led. As a medical cannabis company firmly focused on taking a legal, medical and patient-focused approach to healthcare, how to you plan on educating patients and the public?
Julian Fantino: There are several levels of education we are woking on and continue to plan to do. Some of the education is for people with a general lack of knowledge or who are still hung up on the stigma issue. Another level of education we have is for doctors; right now we have 80-odd doctors who are in training with us and as we expand this will continue to be a very important aspect for us. We need medical practitioners who are not only up to speed, but competent about prescribing and ordering medical cannabis for their patients.
Media Allure: In addition to educating medical practitioners about medical cannabis, who else is in your scope of focus?
Julian Fantino: There is a component of our educational focus that includes educating the media because sometimes misinformation and miscommunication can confuse the public. Even in my interviews here there doesn’t seem to be a clear delineation between medical cannabis use and recreational use. Basically the words speak for themselves but medical is only intended for people who have had a medical assessment, under doctor’s care, who come to a consensual agreement that if traditional, conventional medical approaches have not worked, than the decision can be made to take this approach. This will one day become a conventional medicine, the growth of patients is growing exponentially so at some point in time I expect this will become conventional medicine.
