SODIUM TO REPLACE LITHIUM

There's an interesting story in the NEW YORK TIMES today which says that Chinese (and others)
companies are successfully using cheap sodium used batterys to run electric cars. The technology is new but gaining traction fast. It is believed cheap easy to source sodium could replace the need for sodium before not too long. Makes me wonder if investing in a company like LI which is still years from production is a prudent decision.

Sodium has less dense capacity to store electricity so battery would have to be much bigger to have the same storage capacity as lithium based battery. However they could be used for different application like large electricity storage from renewables. IMHO, for now lithium type battery has a secure place in this EV trend.
