I cannot find any information to support these claims regarding Aphria. The article says that Aphria has stopped investing according to a former employee. No mention of divesting LATAM assets. I can find no info that Marigold Projects has closed. Only mention T-God and Aurora divestments. Certainly cannot find info on 200 employees being laid off. Anyone with some insight? https://jamaica ...more

I reached the same dead end, that's is why I worded it 'LP's' and not Aphria. But just the same Jamaica with no export agreement is worhtless. quote=AlbertOyler] I cannot find any information to support these claims regarding Aphria. The article mentions that Aphria is discontinuing “further” investment which means what’s operating will be maintained with no new investments in the area. Marigold operates as a small farm/smoke shop which doesn't require 200 employees, so Colombia is probably where the layoffs happened.  The source is from a former employee but with no mention as to the work they did, so it could ...more

Probably not Colombia as aphria stated on the earnings call they are still investing 40M to finish up Colcanna.  "While all new material capex projects are currently on hold, we still have approximately CAD30 million to spend on our German expansion and CAD40 million to spend on our Colombian expansion." My best guess of the 200 worker layoff would be to pick up quality workers ...more

Was not a fan of the Latam and Jamaica investments when they were made. Picture Aphria profit without these sink holes. Someone did make money, to the detriment of the company and us the investors

They're not sink holes, they just require time, take Jamaica as an example that applies to South America as well.  Sensi Medical Cannabis, popularly known as Sensi Medz, has a few popular strains such as Marigold, named after their parent company, Marigold Projects Jamaica Ltd. The signage on display categorizes strains in terms of effects as well. “We’re selling a medical product. Our ...more

Too bad about Jamaica because they grow some of the finest cannabis strains in the world. Lamb's Bread, Jamaican Dream, and Lion, and many more. Their sativa's are outstanding and in the league of Broken Coast and better. It's like fine wine and all about terroir and clima, whether grown inside or out. I guess Vic thought way back then that they could grow these exotic strains cheaply ...more

Aphria still can in the future and nothing has changed with Jamaica or Columbia, it's just going slow like everywhere else and will take time to build out which is why they are winning.  GLTA
